Scleroderma Australia Committee – Our Secretary

Dylan King joined the Scleroderma Australia Committee in 2019 and lives in Adelaide. Over the past few years, Dylan has been helping to establish and build a presence among the Scleroderma community in South Australia. Dylan has also taken up the role as Secretary.

Dylan has a strong understanding of Scleroderma and its impacts on daily life because his mother lived with the condition for 15 years. Dylan has been able to bring his knowledge and insights about Scleroderma to strengthen  the existing networks within Adelaide’s Scleroderma community and support fundraising activities that aim to bring together people with Scleroderma and raise awareness. This includes the monthly support group which is attended by people with Scleroderma, Lupus and Sjogren’s Syndrome, as well as a number of recent events that were held in celebration of World Scleroderma Day.

Outside of his role on the Committee, Dylan has worked in the Australian Public Service for over 10 years which has included contributing to implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. In his spare time, Dylan enjoys cooking and baking, woodworking and experimenting with all things DIY.

Dylan hopes to continue to help build connections and increase awareness of what we can do to support people living with Scleroderma in the community, with the aim to recruit more volunteers and eventually establish an incorporated association in South Australia.  🌻
